Lead the Accounting Engine of One of the Fastest-Growing Home Care Companies

Total Care Connections, one of the fastest-growing home care organizations in Arizona and Colorado, is seeking a hands-on, highly skilled Controller to lead our growing accounting function.

This is not a role for someone who wants to sit back and delegate everything. We are looking for a true roll-up-your-sleeves financial leader who loves detailed accounting work, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is energized by leading a small remote team of accounting, medical billing, and IT professionals, including overseas staff.

If you are a strong accounting technician, an excellent communicator, and someone who takes pride in accuracy, systems, and clean financial reporting, this role is for you.

What You Will Do

Hands-On Accounting and Daily Operations

You will be directly involved in every key part of our accounting process, including:

  • Leading day-to-day accounting and transaction coding across multiple entities
  • Managing weekly billing processes across all payer types including private pay, Medicaid, VA, LTC insurance, and medical claims
  • Overseeing accounts receivable including aging, reporting, collections, and claim follow-up
  • Overseeing accounts payable through Ramp and ensuring accurate, timely vendor payments
  • Performing bank reconciliations and general ledger maintenance
  • Reconciling WellSky, KanTime, and other billing/EHR systems with QuickBooks Online
  • Recording, depositing, and accurately classifying incoming checks and payments
  • Managing and improving Paychex payroll integration to strengthen cost accounting by service line and location

Financial Reporting and Analysis

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Lead cash-to-accrual conversions for internal management reporting
  • Support annual budgeting and forecasting in partnership with internal leadership
  • Provide budget-to-actual reporting to help leadership monitor financial performance
  • Maintain chart of accounts integrity and ensure GAAP compliance
  • Partner with external CPA support for audits, tax planning, and financial strategy

Medical Billing Oversight

  • Ensure billing is accurate, compliant, and timely across all payer sources
  • Troubleshoot claim denials and guide the billing team toward best practices
  • Manage overseas billing and collections team members
  • Identify root causes of recurring billing issues and implement long-term solutions

Team Leadership and Collaboration

  • Lead a small remote accounting and billing support team, including international staff
  • Work closely with the COO and CEO to ensure financial visibility and operational alignment
  • Support credentialing oversight to ensure licenses, enrollments, and certifications remain current
  • Lead IT support staff and vendors to ensure systems performance and data accuracy
  • Collaborate with operations, recruiting, and scheduling teams to improve workflows and financial processes

Systems, Controls, and Process Improvement

  • Strengthen internal controls and improve financial workflows company-wide
  • Streamline processes, integrate systems, and reduce manual tasks
  • Support property accounting for company-owned buildings, including rent tracking, CAM reconciliation, and capital improvements
  • Drive continuous improvement across software tools, automations, and reporting accuracy

What Makes You a Great Fit

You are someone who:

  • Enjoys doing the accounting work personally while also leading others
  • Communicates clearly, follows through consistently, and holds others accountable
  • Thrives in a fast-moving organization where processes evolve and improve
  • Brings the mindset of an Ideal Team Player: humble, hungry, and smart
  • Loves structure, accuracy, and solving complex financial and operational challenges

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience
  • At least 2 years of management or supervisory experience
  • Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas)
  • Experience with multi-entity accounting and cash-to-accrual conversions
  • Healthcare accounting and medical billing oversight experience strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with payroll systems, AP systems, and system reconciliations
  • Strong analytical ability, attention to detail, and communication skills
  • Ability to work on-site and effectively lead a hybrid remote and overseas team
  • Excellent time management and ability to manage multiple priorities
