HR Assistant – Payroll & Benefits

Position Summary
The HR Assistant supports the Payroll & Benefits Department by processing and validating employee information that feeds payroll and benefits administration. Serving as the first checkpoint in the payroll process, this role helps ensure employee changes are complete, accurate, approved, and submitted on time.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll and Employee Data Support
- Validate time and attendance, PTO, leave, and employee records before each payroll cycle.
- Process approved new hire, termination, compensation, transfer, promotion, and leave-of-absence changes.
- Enter approved benefits deduction changes and maintain supporting documentation.
- Conduct routine employee data audits, correct inaccuracies, and escalate unresolved discrepancies before payroll deadlines.
- Provide the Payroll and Benefits Specialists with complete and accurate information for each processing cycle.
Employee Lifecycle and Benefits Support
- Support onboarding and separation processes, including employee record setup, benefits eligibility, access-removal coordination, and required benefits continuation notifications.
- Track benefits eligibility and enrollment milestones and maintain applicable eligibility lists.
- Prepare employment verification letters and other routine employee correspondence.
- Respond to general employee questions and escalate payroll or benefits concerns as appropriate.
International Payroll Support
- Review international time and attendance records and support employee and contractor payment readiness.
- Identify absences, unpaid time, missing information, and other payroll-impacting discrepancies before applicable deadlines.
Qualifications
- One to two years of experience in HR administration, payroll support, benefits administration, or a related role.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and comfort working within recurring deadlines.
- Experience using HR, payroll, benefits, timekeeping, or employee data-management systems.
- Ability to handle confidential employee, payroll, and benefits information with discretion.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, identify discrepancies, and escalate issues appropriately.
- Strong written communication skills and comfort supporting U.S. and international team members.
